Living with missing teeth can be inconvenient and make you feel self-conscious about your appearance. While dentures and bridges can be effective tooth replacement options, we can also place and restore dental implants in Bakersfield, California. If you would like to see if you are a candidate for implants, call Rosedale Dental Studio at 661-501-4746 for an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Nicole Chen.
What Are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a restoration option that, unlike a bridge or denture, replaces the entire tooth, including the root. This is important since the pressure exerted on the tooth and its root helps to keep your jawbone healthy and strong. An implant is made up of three parts: the titanium post (or implant itself), an abutment and the crown that replaces the visible part of your tooth
How Are Implants Placed?
Once you and our dentist have decided that implants are right for your smile, we will schedule your first appointment. During that visit, we will surgically place the implant into the jawbone. After that area has healed and the implant has had time to bond with the bone, you will return to our office. Our dentist will then attach the abutment and place the crown, completing your new smile.

Making Sure Your Treatment Is a Success
Once you leave our office, it is up to you to care for your implants. You need to be committed to visiting our dentist for all of your follow-up appointments. You will need to regularly brush and floss your teeth, including your implants, and limit or eliminate your use of tobacco products and other habits that can create problems for your smile. Good periodontal health is also important, and you should be willing to take the time to care for your gums.
