Multiple missing teeth, particularly an entire dental arch, can limit your ability to speak clearly and keep you from enjoying certain foods. This problem can also have an embarrassing effect on your appearance. At Rosedale Dental Studio, we offer partial and complete dentures in Bakersfield, California. To start your journey to a complete smile, call our office at 661-501-4746 for an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Nicole Chen.
What Are the Types of Dentures?
There are two kinds of dentures — complete and partial. Complete dentures are used to replace an entire row of missing teeth. They may be held in place with a denture adhesive. Partial dentures replace several missing teeth that may not be adjacent to one another. They often use a set of metal clasps that attach to your natural fit. A flipper is a type of partial denture that usually serves as a temporary solution while the permanent partial dentures are crafted in a lab.
Placing Your Dentures
The process begins by taking impressions of your teeth. Those impressions will be used by the lab to create your new dentures. When your new dentures are ready, Dr. Nicole Chen will extract any teeth that need to be removed. In many cases, your dentures can be placed during the same visit as your extraction. You will need to return to our office for later visits to have your dentures adjusted and to have a permanent liner placed to ensure the best possible fit and comfort.

Caring for Your Dentures
You should remove your dentures every night to clean them and soak them in a denture solution. You should gently scrub your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a nonabrasive toothpaste. You can also use a toothpaste designed specifically for dentures. Dish soap can also be used. Soaking your dentures not only removes any remaining bacteria but also helps them retain their shape. If you break or damage your dentures, call our office and schedule an appointment to have them repaired or replaced.
